While growing up in India’s West Bengal, Romy’s family drew traditional flavours from around the area in their cooking. From a young age Romy would cook with her mother and growing up in a multi cultural community, was introduced to recipes and styles of cooking from different regions of India.

Since then, her passion for cooking has grown and when she moved to the UK her desire grew to introduce people to true Indian home cooking. Romy has also always been very aware of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, founded on a nutritious, balanced diet and wishes to pass her knowledge on to others, especially younger generations

Romy lives in the West Country with her husband and two daughters and leads a very healthy lifestyle. She also encourages her family to eat a well balanced diet and over the years has introduced them to different foods and tastes. This has evolved into her creating her own line of sauces, spice mixes, lemon pickle and mango chutney.

Romy is proud to be heavily involved in youth culture, often giving talks and cookery demonstrations in local schools where she talks about how food is grown, the importance of eating seasonal food and its impact on environment. She helps with her daughter's school with their “Grow Your Own Food Club”, where primary school children grow fruits and vegetables and children witness the journey of food from seed to plant to plate.

Romy also runs Indian cookery classes for adults where she encourages participants to learn the importance of spices and herbs in cooking, involving them in the entire cooking process.  Her meals are always healthy, using less oil and classes include discussions on various cooking techniques.

Romy is keen runner and member of her local running club, is an active member of the community and helps with local charities’ fund raising. She also participates in food fairs wherever possible.
