Saffron Rice

Cooking Method
  • Soak the Basmati rice for 30 minutes and then drain the water.
  • Add Oil/Ghee to pan.
  • Add green cardamom pods, cumin seeds and bay leaves to pan.
  • When cumin seeds starts cracking, add the soaked rice to pan.
  • Fry for couple of minutes.
  • Add 450 ml of hot water, mix well, add soaked saffron and cover with lid.
  • After about 5 minutes when the water dries up, Remove the pan from heat.
  • Cover the pan with kitchen towel and then put the lid on it.
  • Leave it for 5 minutes to rest before serving.

Cumin Seeds
Green cardamom pods
Boiling water
Pinch of saffron soaked
in 10 ml of hot water
Salt to taste
Soak rice in cold water
for 30 minutes before cooking
